The Sunshine State Welcomes VRSFLA!
Florida Association of the Deaf (FAD) is pleased to announce the launching of the VRS Florida (VRSFLA) at its 41st Biennial Conference on July 5, 2007. This is a tremendous opportunity for FAD as they form a partnership with CSDVRS, LLC. Florida is the second state to offer a branded video relay service (VRS).
VRSFLA will become a driving force in empowering deaf and hard of hearing Floridians to focus on increased accessibility and ensured civil rights in the State of Florida.
"This is the perfect opportunity for FAD to strengthen its foundation as an organization. Together, we are committed to providing quality video relay services within Florida," CSDVRS CEO Sean Belanger stated.
FAD is a statewide customer-driven organization leading efforts to protect the civil rights of more than 2.5 million Deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened and deaf-blind individuals in the State of Florida. Since 1917, FAD has advocated for equal access and sought to remove barriers that people with hearing loss faced for many years. The Association, with over 1,300 members, provides opportunities for individuals to learn about advocacy, culture, linguistics, education, health care, and civil rights.
FAD Past President Chris Wagner stated "VRSFLA not only will provide support to the Association, but will empower millions of deaf and hard of hearing Floridians to expand opportunities as individuals."
Anyone can access to VRSFLA by visiting www.VRSFLA.com or dial VRSFLA.TV through a videophone. Voice callers may dial 1-877-813-6214 to reach VRSFLA.
The Board of Directors of the Florida Association of the Deaf expresses its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of CSDVRS for its support and looks forward to building its partnership to offer accessibility through video relay services to deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened and deaf-blind individuals in Florida.
